On/Record- The camera is on or is ready to record

Playback- Allows the user of the camera to view and edit photos

Off- Camera is completely off

Auto- Camera uses pre-programmed settings including flash and exposure

Half-press- Pressing the shoot button on the camera half way, giving faster camera response time and more control over focus

Flash- A flash of light the camera exudes for dark places so the picture comes out good

Exposure- The measuring and balancing of light

Stop- a relative measurement of light used in photography

Shutter- Blocks all light from exposing the film until you take a photo

Aperture- Controls how much light is let into the camera

Shutter Speed- How fast the shutter opens and closes

Program- unlike full auto mode, you can control some features such as flash
